Designed for enrichment of upper elementary/early middle school students, this activity has students compare two different careers. They research the average yearly salary of each career, and use the information to figure out the average monthly salary. Using the average monthly salary and percentages or decimal multiplication, they create a budget for each career. They research the educational requirements of each career and the daily responsibilities of a person working in each career. They then make their choice of which career they would most want and write a paragraph about their choice. Then, they use creative writing and what they have learned in order to write a story about a day they worked in that job.
