Although a wedding is a wonderful occasion when two people in love officially become husband and wife, it is also a time of stress. When you attend a wedding and see the magnificent flowers, the photographer taking pictures, you hear music playing softly in the background, and everything is perfect, do not think for one minute that it all just came together on its own.

Weddings require tremendous amount of time and planning. For this reason, most expert wedding planners recommend that for an average size wedding, up to 150 people, the planning stage should begin about one year from the date. Even smaller weddings require several months of planning to ensure everything is perfect. If you consider all the aspects of a wedding, reception, and honeymoon, it is easy to see why this type of planning is required.

After all, the bride and groom are trying to plan things but also schedule them properly. Take the wedding invitations for example. Not only do the invitations need to be ordered, but also, they must be chosen to include paper color and type, ink color, font, wording, and so on. Now, once the invitations are received, they must be proofed and the envelopes hand addressed, stuffed, and stamped. However, now a list of all the invitees needs to be tracked along with who accepts and who declines. When you consider that this is just for the invitations, you can only imagine what all goes into the entire wedding. Therefore, the better organized you can be the better you will plan for your upcoming wedding.

Get organized!

The good news is that excellent planning and organization is possible. First, create a database of all the things you need to accomplish, to include the date they must be done by, the day they must be sent or confirmed, the name, address, and phone number of the vendor with which you are working, and any pending items that need to be followed up on. As each thing is completed, you can mark it off as done. Additionally, when someone asks what he or she can do to help, you can print off a copy of the item you need assistance with and have him or her provide some support.
